Bleu Plate Tours - Food Tours in Lexington Kentucky

Tour Reviews

A Great Time!
We had an amazing time on our walking food tour. Laura, our tour guide, was very knowledgable regarding the area. We got to check out restaurants and foods that we never would've tried. (I had my first scallop ever!) We loved one restaurant so much that we went back to it twice over that weekend, once for dinner and once for dessert! My husband and I would both highly recommend this activity!

In Town for Football Game
We were in town for a football game and scheduled this as an activity. We had no idea how much of a treat it would be! It was great visiting and trying several of the great restaurants in Lexington. We also had fun learning about the history in Lexington.

What a wonderful experience and activity. Laura is a gracious, knowledgable and fun hostess for this culinary tour of downtown Lexington. The activity is relaxed, casual, fun, entertaining and DELICIOUS!! Good for anyone visiting and locals who like to explore different restaurant styles and learn a little about the beautiful town of Lexington. We highly recommend this activity!!

Loved it!
Very informative, and the food was excellent. I would recommend the Saturday tour though, since many places seem to be closed on Sunday in Lexington. Our tour guide, Laura, was great. I would definitely recommend this tour to foodies and/or anyone wanting some history of the area.

Loved It
This was so much fun! I was hesitant at first since I'm local and already frequent downtown establishments but I learned so much about my town that I was embarrassed not to already know. And to eat while learning, what could be better! Though I had been to all the restaurants before, I ate things I had never ordered and would now be willing to do so. One final thought -- come hungry! I've been on other food tours before where it was just a sampling of the entree. On this tour you received the whole thing!

Delightful Lexington Tastes
Where else can you gather Lexington history, culture, companionship as well as good food? This tour combines it all under the skillful, knowledgeable leadership of guide Laura who adds enthusiasm and personality to the mix. At first, the walking part was a concern, but we walked at a leisurely pace, stopped for a bite or some more information. There were opportunities at some stops to sit and eat. Chatting with others was a wonderful component of the tour. The time flew by! For me, eating only a portion of the food offered left me feeling very satisfied, rather than stuffed, at the end of the tour. The variety of foods was also a plus. Kudos to Laura for a delightful experience that I heartily recommend!

Definitely recommend
At first I thought it seemed a bit pricey but bought two tickets for a friend's birthday as a special treat. Totally worth the price! You get to eat at some very fancy places around town and you are definitely stuffed by the end of the tour. You get to learn some really interesting stories about Lex history.

Interesting tour
Our tour was about 13 people with locals and out-of-towners. The guide was very nice and enthusiastic, and talked with everyone on the tour. I expected a little more than what we got on the overall tour, but for the most part enjoyed the locations we visited and the food was wonderful.

Great Experience
My husband and I had a great time learning a little bit about the city and trying different foods. There wasn't too much history to make it museum like, but enough to give you an understanding of it's history. There was a nice variety of food to taste, lots of different flavors and styles of cooking. It was a great way to experience foods we wouldn't normally ask for on our own.

I would highly reccomend this activity and anytime I visit a city I will look for a similar type of tour. Thank you!

Fun Time in Lexington, KY
A friend was planning to come into town to have a little chick weekend so I got another friend together with us to do the tour. Two of us had done this kind of tour of Greenwich Village in NY and sort of knew what to expect. We were not disappointed and actually had a really good time with a fun group of people. I believe there were 14 on the tour some local some out of town(state)ers and I did not hear of anyone being disappointed and nobody cut out early. Laura did a really good job as did the locations we stopped at. How cute are those Lex Pasta guys anyways???!!! Definitely something anyone can enjoy and I hope Laura adds a winery/history tour to the options of course for a steeper price, but would be a fun day. Would recommend to pretty much any group except younger children maybe. Nice mix of local history and a great sampling of food and drink - no need for lunch afterwards -we were full by the end of the tour. We had a few moments of rain and was no issue at all.

Wonderful Event
My daughters (ages 25 and 21) and I (age 51) had an awesome time at this event.

It was a fun 3 hours of eating and touring the most beautiful area of downtown Lexington. I found new restaurants to go back to and new dishes at restaurants I have been visiting for years. Laura is the best hostess and tour guide ever. I would highly recommend you spending a Saturday morning with her enjoying this fun event.

Great way to learn the town.
I recently moved to Lexington and didn't know where to go for good food, or really anything about the city. This tour was a great introduction to the history of Lexington along with the opportunity to see and test many local restaurants. Not only did I get to sample foods from the participating locations, but I also saw several more places I'd like to try along the way.
I wish similar tours were offered for more areas of town-I would definitley go!

What A Great Day!
As much as I was looking forward to the Bleu Plate Culinary Walking tour, it only exceeded my expectations. The food was great, and the rest of the tour was so much fun and very informative and interesting. And the weather was perfect I must add. I would recommend this tour to anyone and I am looking forward to going again if different tours are set up. I had no idea there were so many interesting places to dine downtown and intend to try and return to dine again.

Great Experience
This tour was absolutely great! Laura was very knowledgeable and professional. We heard bits of history along the way to each restaurant, which was great for visitors. The tour took us to restaurants that we would never have been able to find or experience in only a few days visit and the food was amazing! We highly recommend it for locals, as well as their visitors.

Wonderful Way to Spend the Day
I am here visiting my family from California and was looking for something special for my sister and i to do together. So when i stumbled upon the tour on the internet i was hooked. What better way to spend the day than to eat, walk it off and learn some history! We got lucky since the 2010 Horse Mania was in town. Laura did a fantastic job and well bottom line it was well worth the trip. So much that i have been telling people about it already ! So enjoy !!

Great Introduction to downtown Lexington
My husband and I recently moved to Lexington from another state and were delighted when we saw that Bleu Plate Tours offered a walking tasting tour.  We were surprised that there were so many restaurants downtown as a person doesn't really take notice while driving on the main streets.  Our tour guide was very informative and engaging.  The foods that we sampled were great!  This is a great opportunity for local restaurants to participate and show what flavors and atmosphere they have to offer.

Very Good Experience
It was interesting to sample some of the recommended items from local restaurants that I may not have otherwise tried. The bits of history thrown in added to the appeal. The only downfall was that it rained during the tour, but that is just a chance one takes when booking such an event that requires walking around outside, completely beyond the company's control, of course! By far the best item on the tour was the bread pudding from DeSha's, but all items were delicious! Tour guide was very friendly, and overall a very good experience!
