Parent company Alltech, owned by the Pearse Lyons Family, knows how to do it up right! The facilities at Lexington Brewing Company (home of Kentucky Ale) are truly a site to behold. The visitor’s center is fashioned after a street in the Lyons’ family’s beloved native Ireland. Then the pristine Shrewsbury Hall is the replica of an Irish castle.
Alltech was the host location to the very first Bleu Plate Confidential. Guests were welcomed into the visitor’s center where they sampled Kentucky Ale, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, coffee liquor Bluegrass Sundown and Pearse Lyons Reserve. They were then treated to an interesting tour of the brewing facilities. Upon return, Chef Andy Myers served up some delectable hors d’oeuvres and the guests mingled. There was an exciting energy in the air – a sign of good things to come!
The group then moved to Shrewsbury Hall where guests were seated by place cards. Beautiful flowers adorned each table and the 48 diners were off to a fabulous evening.
Four delectable courses were served. Chef Myers developed an intriguing menu that he certainly lived up to! It not only incorporated Alltech/Kentucky Ale products (including Alltech angus), Chef Myers utilized many of our local ingredients.
First Course: Frisee salad with a soft poached Duncan Farms egg, Pearse Lyons infusedbacon crumble, Kenny’s Kentucky bleu cheese, toasted brioche.
Second Course: Pan roasted diver-caught sea scallops, chanterelle mushrooms, black eyed peas, aged balsamic vinegar.
Third Course: Kentucky Ale stewed Alltech angus beef short rib, Kenny’s white cheddar cornbread.
Fourth Course: Bluegrass Sundown creme brulee, Alltech Café Citadelle (Alltech’s fair trade Haitian coffee).
The event was a huge success! But don’t take our word for it. Here are reviews from folks who attended the dinner:
“The experience was simply wonderful. I had the feeling that I was a valued guest from the moment I arrived. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. All guest moved smoothly from one activity to the next. I did not meet Laura for long but I had the feeling that the fine dining gathering she organized was not about money but a sincere desire to share her expertise and all she knows about Lexington. She is professional and committed to offer the best service she can. I left the event smiling and feeling replenished. I usually only feel that good only after a massage. I also met wonderful people who were as excited and thrilled as I was.”

“I had an awesome time! It was nice to do something fun and different in Lexington. Despite the small kitchen that the chefs were given to work with they executed fine dining food exceptionally well! If it is at all possible to arrange another event maybe with a different chef/location for variety that would be awesome! I'd be sure to tell friends. I think one of the coolest parts of the event on February 26th (aside from the food) was being invited into a space that is only used for Alltech's employees/functions. There have to be more spaces like that in Lexington just waiting to be unveiled! Good work Laura and I hope to do it again sometime! It's really something unique, even though I liked meeting new people and dining with strangers I'd love to invite my friends too!”

Our party of four are still recalling the food and fun facts from our evening. Laura has the perfect blend of creativity to organization to pull off a perfect party! It was the perfect combination of fun, history, food and fellowship.”
